A trained dog is much happier and more enjoyable to an owner. In order for your dog to understand what makes you happy, it must be trained. Just like humans go to school to learn to read, write and communicate, dogs also need an education to enable them to communicate with and understand humans. With some simple
training, a dog can quickly come to understand what you want it to do and live a much happier and healthier life with you. The leading cause of dog owners relinquishing their dogs to shelters is due to behavior problems. Few of these people realize how easy and rewarding training a dog can be.
I use only positive reinforcement training methods. I took my first dog to “traditional” training classes that used a combination of rewards and physical force. After experiencing this and seeing how it negatively impacted her I realized that I needed find a better way to train. After searching, I discovered the world of positive reinforcement training and became a student of this method.
Using dog friendly methods isn’t only effective, but it’s also fun for you and
your dog and creates a much stronger bond between the two of you. You can have peace, love and harmony with your dog and be the “pack leader” without using force. We use clickers in training making it quick for your dog to learn.
I offer private in-home training. In home training is very convenient for those who would rather train in the privacy of their own home or whose schedules conflict with group classes. It is also quite effective for dogs, especially those who may not be suited for group classes. By training at home you’ll also get the one on one training that you would not get in a group setting and get to work on exactly what you want to learn.
I am certified by Animal Behavior College of Northridge, CA as a dog trainer and mentor instructor. After several successful years as a professional dog trainer, later went on to be certified through the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers, the leading independent certifying organization for the dog training profession.
I am continuously seeking knowledge and staying up to date on the latest advancements in dog training, attending seminars by well known trainers such as Suzanne Clothier and Turid Rugaas, and reading the latest books by recognized experts from around the world.
Some of the behaviors we work on are:
- Coming when called
- Leash walking skills
- Puppy socialization
- Puppy nipping
- Dog reactivity
I coach you how to communicate with your dog in a way he/she understands. I specialize in working with fearful and shy dogs. These dogs are a special case and can take some extra patience and time to gain their trust with either their owner, other people, dog’s, or the environment etc.

Private training is our most popular option. It is great if your schedule makes it difficult for you to attend a group class or if your dog just isn’t suited for classes. One on one training is the most effective way for you to achieve your personal goals with your dog. Private training lets you customize your experience to exactly what is important to you, in the environment where you and your dog live every day.
We help you develop obedience to cues such as sit, down, stay, recall, watch and more. We can also work on problem solving for some of the behavior problems like jumping, mouthing, barking, chewing, house training, reactiveness toward other dogs, or fearful or shy dogs. If you have specific issues don’t be afraid to ask. All training will take place at your home, unless we are working on a particular issue that needs to be taken somewhere else.
Semi-Private Sessions are a more affordable option for private sessions where the cost is divided up among multiple dog owners. Gather up some friends, neighbors, or family and have a semi private group class in your home or yard. For half the cost of a traditional private session you can get customized training to suit you and your friends needs.
What is day training? It is having a certified trainer come to your home to work with your dog several days a week while you are working.
Why Day Training? Day training is a very convenient option for people who work long days and need a “boost” to get their dog’s obedience under control. By visiting during the day while you’re away, we provide mental stimulation to keep your dog from being bored, which is a major cause of unwanted behavior. We get your dog going in the right direction and schedule “catch up” sessions with you so that you know how to reinforce their newly learned behavior. We can work on problem solving, basic manners, and even some playtime. By being bonded and insured, you can rest assured that your home and pet will be in good hands when you’re away.
Day Training Package:
3- 1 hour sessions during the week and a 1/2 hour session at the end of the week with the owner to catch you up on how to reinforce what we’ve been working on to be able to reinforce the behaviors.
A minimum of 2 weeks is required.
Before scheduling appointments for private training, a telephone interview is required. One or all of the primary dog owners will need to plan on participating in every training session (except day training), since you will be learning as much as or more than your dog. Continuation of the training techniques are a must in order for them to take root in your dog’s daily behavior. Training sessions will generally be about an hour long, but could vary based on the dog’s progress and needs. Very young puppies can not generally
train as long as more mature dogs. Up-to-date vaccination records are required. Dogs must be on heart worm and flea prevention system. They must be healthy and not have had any communicable diseases in the last 60 days.
